*Eye Candy* What is That? (short film)

A great short film - important, and poignant without being maudlin. Go to the YouTube page to watch in HD. Really recommended.

*Eye Candy* A is for Allah - video

Assalamu aleikum,

I am sure many of you have heard the old children's song, "A is for Allah" by Yusuf Islam. I just found a video of the song, and I think it's lovely. There seems to be another version of this video with better colour and Zain Bikha's version sung; I haven't found the full cut of that, and besides, I prefer the original Yusuf Islam track. I really like this video, and have no qualms about it whatsoever, which is quite awesome to say as far as videos go. Do enjoy.

Assalamu aleikum,

Spring is just around the corner where I happen to be, so I thought I'd leave you with a picture I took a year or two back, called "True Spring" :)

What are you looking at? I'm eating. Thus spake monkey

Assalamu aleikum,
Being busy and wishing to update, and having no time to set up a flickr account, and having few pictures I have comfortably resized, I leave you with this:

munch..

It is a Colobus monkey, a pic I took in Zanzibar. These guys are great, they really seem to say, "What YOU lookin' at?" Tsk tsk, the Original Gangstas. I have funnier pictures; for a later time inshaAllah.

Question: Why is this Halaal?
Answer: Allahu ya'lam, it is halaal because it is a direct representation of reality (it isn't a drawing), and I took the pic with a digital camera, thus it has no tangible representation (it does not cast a shadow -- unless you print it...so don't ;P).

*Eye Candy* Landscape set I -- flickr slideshows

Assalamu aleikum,

Searched around flickr for some good landscape photography, and I recommend these three sets; I've linked to their lovely slideshows below. I recommend, that each time you see a beautiful photo, to say a "SubhanAllah" (Glory to Allah) - simple, yet it makes your viewing time blessed:

flickr member shubener's "Landscape" set -- slideshow

dotylc's "Interesting" set as a slideshow; excellent landscape photography/art

annabellafranc's "Spring" set -- slideshow

note: I don't recommend aimless flickr-browsing, due to the *hours* that tend to pass doing so. You might find yourself wading through plenty of well-meaning mediocrity before those stellar photos turn up. Of course there's also the possibility of coming accross some disturbing photo (though unlikely; what ARE you searching for?) : ) In any case, I'll try to post some notable Eye Candy here, so there's no need to have an...er...wandering eye...
